Folio: Smart File Browser · Last updated: October 19, 2026

Short version: Folio: Smart File Browser does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data. It never connects to the internet.

What the app accesses

Folio is a file manager. To do its job it reads the names, sizes, dates, tags and contents (for previews) of the files and folders you browse on your Mac, and it moves, copies, renames, creates and trashes items only when you ask it to. All of this happens locally on your Mac.

What stays on your device

Folio saves a few preferences locally in the standard macOS preferences store: your open tabs, favorites, recent destinations, appearance and view settings. This information is never sent anywhere.

No tracking, no third parties

Folio contains no advertising, no analytics, no crash-reporting service and no third-party SDKs. We do not have a server that receives data from the app, and we cannot see your files or how you use the app.

Permissions

macOS may ask for your permission before Folio can open protected folders such as Desktop, Documents, Downloads or removable drives. You can change these choices at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security.

Children

Folio does not collect information from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with an updated date.
